I have been working for weeks getting the shop turned over to winter and cold weather clothes. I even spent Thanksgiving working…not all day, I had to have my 4000 calories of Thankgiving feast.

If you have not been to SQ’s for a while you will see a new layout in room 7. We have 2 full racks of coats, double racks of sweaters/vests and shirts. More men’s clothing! A large selection of BLING for those of you that like to make an entrance…and who doesn’t?

There are short and long dresses, vests and jackets smothered in sequins or beads or BOTH! You can also find lovely Holidaywear without all the bling.

Room 8 is packed to the rafters with slacks, jackets, suits, dresses and all sorts of accessories. If you are shopping for gifts or for your personal use…you will find something you really really need….really you will.

At the front counter there are 3 shelves of great vintage jewelry and accessories. Check it out.

Our book dealer is retiring so I have now added book seller to my duties. So as you come up the staircase you will see 2 large areas of books along with the many collectibles I have gathered. Need cocktail items…we have them. Glassware, aluminum serving pieces, snack sets…the list goes on and on.

You have to see it all to believe it!

Friday December 2 is First Friday in Historic Leesburg. Stop by and see all the great dealers in the Black Shutter Antique Center. We are open until 9pm. There is music all around town, fun times.

At SusyQtiques the racks are packed and ready to outfit you for chilly to cold weather that will soon be upon us.

Cold weather is about separates for me. Lots of sweaters, slacks, long and mini skirts with boots. To all of that you add some vintage jewelry, scarves and purses…you are almost set to go. ADD to that a unique vintage coat and hat…PERFECTO!

Things are forever being changed around at the shop. Room 8 is getting a reworking but room 7 is on its way to a total move around I think. All depends how long my old back holds out. Making room for even more Men’s vintage. A popular stop for guys AND gals too. We do have the largest selection of men’s vintage in the area.

The Holidays are fast approaching so come early for your Holiday finery…long short, separates…SusyQtiques has it all.

I bought out the book dealer at the shop so look for the large book selection at the turn of the stairs…on your way up to room 7!

The front case at the register is full of lovely antique and vintage costume jewelry. Along with antique lace, books and small unique items. Things I just cannot leave behind when out shopping. You know how that is…don’t you?

We have had a very hot summer and boy am I ready for clothing with texture and warmth as the autumn chills begin.

Went thru my personal closet and pulled my own vintage cardigans to the front of the closet If you are in need of the perfect sweater come by the shop. I have been slowly changing over the “store” closet from summer to fall.

The Black Shutter got a nice painting uplift this summer but the painting kept me out of my storage…long story…so the change over has been a bit slower then I would like. Still, coats are starting to fill up the racks along with neat jackets of Pendleton wool, re-purposed quilts, leather and some really “unique fabrics and designs.”

Recently found a nice collection of shoes…many nos..new old stock! Shoes have to fit, they do not give like clothing but when you find the pair that does fit – WOW!

Also I have purchased several pieces of the late Korean Designer Andre Kim. All from the estate of Brooks Shields. I am hoping to acquire more…but you never know.

With Homecomings this fall, you will find lots of lovely party dresses,short or even long if you go that way. It is always a Halloweeners dream to go thru the racks for that perfect look for that perfect party. I have filled a T rack in room 7 with some ideas and some real vintage costumes. So come try on and have fun!

Octoberfest celebrations are going on and already dirndles have been flying off the racks…still have some authentic pieces for young and old…check out the staircase right before room 7!

I have been asked if I have wedding dresses and early vintage..like pre 40′s! I do but I do not put it out on racks because…they are all very delicate. SO if you are looking for something “older” or a one of a kind wedding dress…let me know and we can set up an appointment.

For 2 months the Black Shutter has been getting some fresh paint. Things have been a bit out of sinc with windows out and things moved around…but we are promised to have shutters back up and all painting done by this weekend

So have you been by in a while? If so you have seen the large assortment of hats. All colors, brim sizes and that special decade you love so much…..all represented in room 8. Heads full and a large hanging basket.

Dresses fill 2 racks and every week items are added. I am starting to slowly change out the “closet”. For now jackets and sweaters can be added to summer frocks to make them last into fall. Coats are coming this month…

Lots of lingerie from the 20s to the 70s. Vintage Ethnic pieces with hand work to die for…so yummy.

Maxi dresses keep popping up as the “latest” style…we all know they have been around for a looooong time. To get dressup or casual maxis stop by…they are all in room 7. It is not to early to think about the Holidays…there are some beautiful gowns on that rack too.

HATS! HATS! HATS!..boy do you need a nice sun bonnet with this heat. I have been going hat crazy. That is to your benefit….so many hats. Straw..big brim, medium brim, small brim…with flowers with out flowers, fabric…custom made and designer….yep we got hats!!!

You are receiving this a little early because I am heading west! There is a birthday party I must attend for a certain little grandbaby…MINE! Every time I go into the shop I bring in more and more vintage. One reason is you are all stopping by and buying all the HOT vintage clothing…guys and gals

I have taken a few short buying trips, now getting everything tagged and into the shop. Heading west at the end of the month and I am taking an extra empty bag to fill with goodies.

Stop by and check out all the separates…they have been flying off the racks. Slacks, shorts, blouses and swimsuits just don’t last long at all Things are being marked down weekly so look for the mark down prices in RED!

Last year you may remember I bought a local artist’s estate. She traveled extensively and I have been bringing in more and more of her lovely things. Beaded tops, Victorian collars, even hand beaded suede boots made in Alaska…gorgeous things. They are in the front register case as well as in room 8.

The week of July 11 painters will be working on windows in room 7/8…I do not plan to close up show…but maneuvering in both rooms will be a little tricky…but we will manage. All to make the building more air tight. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter

This Monday is the Fourth of July….there is a great parade in old town Leesburg…the shop will be open noon until 5:30. I will be at the shop working on Sunday..so stop by and say HI!

Sweltering summer heat already folks! Time to take a cool break and stop by SusyQtiques for your cool summer fashions. Racks are full of summer dresses…long and short…skirts, shorts, tops of all kinds. Even sweet sweaters for those cold air conditioned places where we all hang

I went on a buying trip last month so the racks are kept full by all the treasures I have found. Every time I go to the shop I bring more…to replace all that you have been buying!

Jumpsuits keep coming back so look thru the long dress rack…that is where they are hiding

Summer is the perfect time for those vintage separates…sweaters, blouses, skirts, slacks…mix and match to your hearts content. Adding those pieces of vintage to your present day wardrobe is like adding a bit of bling to a black dress.

Speaking of bling…check out the front register case…full of bling. Lots of thermaplastic jewelry from the 1950/60s. Rhinestones and crystal aurora borealis Rings, necklaces…and lots of bracelets for those bare summer arms. More upstairs in room 7 also.

Room 7 is a bit in chaos at the moment…getting new shelves and getting rid of some…tight quarters for a while.

The men’s section has been going great guns..thanks guys! Lots of 70′s parties it seems this year! Although it is harder to find Men’s Vintage…I try my best and the selection is always good. Looking for a tux and don’t see it …email me. I have lots on storage…just not room for all of them!

Prom season is coming to an end but that does not mean the long dress has to disappear from your wardrobe. Nope…lots of cute maxi dresses for every day wear…all in room 7.

Lingerie and ethnic pieces have been very popular this spring…you can find these in room 8. HATS…oh my gosh have hats been flying out of the shop. I bring more in every week. It is going to be a hot and sunny summer…get that hat to shade your lovely face and add sparkle to any outfit.

This Friday is First Friday in old town Leesburg. The Black Shutter Antique Center is open until 9. We have a flutist for entertainment. I will be working the day shift but not the night shift….like I usually do. WHY you ask……well it is opening night for The Women. The iconic play about…you guessed it WOMEN. It is the FASHION play of a life time and I have been working for months gathering and creating close to 70 costumes. It has been a dream come true to be able to have so many wonderful vintage pieces in 1 place. Thousands of clothing pieces have been in the shop and found happy homes with new lovers and wearers of vintage.

Most everything winter has been moved out and spring rules at SusyQtiques. With Easter and the Royal Wedding this past week hats have been flying off heads…lol..fake heads to real heads that is. Did you see some of those fantastic hats ladies wore to THE wedding? Well, similar hats are in the shop. Then there are some of those hats that NEVER will be in my shop. Maybe on stage if I costume the “The Wild and Weird World of the Mad Hatter” There were a few hum dingers as my grandma use to say in that there church.

With summer on its way you will find the perfect hat…check out displays as you go thru the shop.

Summer is a time to add those sweet accessories such as little gloves, hankies, purses and lovely jewelry. All to finish off your look.

In room 7 I have moved sweaters and blouses to make room for more suits and dresses in room 8. Men’s clothing still fill several racks in room 7 also.

The front case as you come into the Black Shutter has a lot of great jewelry and vintage/antique handbags. More jewelry in room 8 in a case also. Jewelry can…IS…addictive I have found. I love it I buy it I wear it and I sell it…if I can bare to let it go that is.

Remember vintage clothing is priced by age and condition. Even New Old Stock is not always perfect…so expect to find things that were  loved and need to be loved again.
