I recently purchased half a dozen lovely beaded sweaters, a couple even cashmere…come see!

For a while I thought summer had come and missed spring…then my doggie got his spring haircut and the temp dropped. Go figure. With that in mind I have not taken all the warm sweaters and jackets out of the shop.

Filling in the Maxi/Prom dress rack. It is that time again to dress up and party. Great dresses for Mother of the Bride, wedding guest or just plain. I want to dress up and go out! Although long dresses can be the traditional look for proms…there are some great shorter examples too. All in room 8.

Guys..room 7 has a nice selection of vintage tux jackets… yellow/white/navy… maybe matching your gal. The men’s department has really been busy. Lots of guy’s vintage going to good homes. So stop by soon for the best selection.

In the corner of room 8 I have set up a small Kids Korner. Vintage clothing for little boys and girls! There is a little blazer made lovingly by some mom for her son…so sweet

Lots of terrific NOS shoes from the 30s and 40s..some even have their original boxes. NOS 70s sandles to in red/navy/cream. Good sizes right now…not later once they are found!

AND do not let me forget that EASTER is next Sunday. Have you found that perfect Easter bonnet? No…well come by while the selection is still HUGE! Because all the Polo matches and the hat wearing ladies are already checking out the hats.

Did I tell you I bought out the book dealer? He was retiring and needed to sell his business at the BS. So now I also sell great books. LOVE BOOKS! Top of the stairs before you go into room 7.

Not sure about you but I have not seen winter yet! So I have been packing the winter coats away and sweaters are getting thinned out. Spring has come and gone and come back again…so light cardigans and spring coats are the ticket now!

March 17 is the biggest day of the year for my family..I mean I grew up in a restaurant family and the place was called The Shamrock Inn for heaven sake…lol So the green is out and about on my staircase and around my rooms. Green goes with everything.

Easter is coming fast…April 8..so hats have been multiplying in shades of pink, and beige and navy …all colors of the rainbow. Check out the large 50s hats in room 1…by the register. I have taken a tall case and have highlighted some of my coolest large 1950′s hats…they are HIGH up so look up when you come in the front door.

In that case I have lots of jewelry, accessories and check the bottom shelf. There are several fantastic Fashion sketches from the late 50s early 60s. Fantastic!

Proms will be here sooner then later so long/maxi dresses will be turning over a lot in the next couple months…check them out.

I came upon a nice selection of deadstock shoes from the 1940′s-50′s. Handbags in all shapes and sizes..even a coconut bag.

Along with everything you want to “wear” in vintage…check out the collectibles in room 7 and suitcases on the back staircase. A little of this and a little of that…SusyQtiques has it…so come on down while the selection is still terrific!

Thank you all for a very successful year for SusyQtiques. Because of you I am doing what I love…buying and selling the best vintage clothing around town.

I have been working for weeks getting the shop turned over to winter and cold weather clothes. I even spent Thanksgiving working…not all day, I had to have my 4000 calories of Thankgiving feast.

If you have not been to SQ’s for a while you will see a new layout in room 7. We have 2 full racks of coats, double racks of sweaters/vests and shirts. More men’s clothing! A large selection of BLING for those of you that like to make an entrance…and who doesn’t?

There are short and long dresses, vests and jackets smothered in sequins or beads or BOTH! You can also find lovely Holidaywear without all the bling.

Room 8 is packed to the rafters with slacks, jackets, suits, dresses and all sorts of accessories. If you are shopping for gifts or for your personal use…you will find something you really really need….really you will.

At the front counter there are 3 shelves of great vintage jewelry and accessories. Check it out.

Our book dealer is retiring so I have now added book seller to my duties. So as you come up the staircase you will see 2 large areas of books along with the many collectibles I have gathered. Need cocktail items…we have them. Glassware, aluminum serving pieces, snack sets…the list goes on and on.

You have to see it all to believe it!

Friday December 2 is First Friday in Historic Leesburg. Stop by and see all the great dealers in the Black Shutter Antique Center. We are open until 9pm. There is music all around town, fun times.

At SusyQtiques the racks are packed and ready to outfit you for chilly to cold weather that will soon be upon us.

Cold weather is about separates for me. Lots of sweaters, slacks, long and mini skirts with boots. To all of that you add some vintage jewelry, scarves and purses…you are almost set to go. ADD to that a unique vintage coat and hat…PERFECTO!

Things are forever being changed around at the shop. Room 8 is getting a reworking but room 7 is on its way to a total move around I think. All depends how long my old back holds out. Making room for even more Men’s vintage. A popular stop for guys AND gals too. We do have the largest selection of men’s vintage in the area.

The Holidays are fast approaching so come early for your Holiday finery…long short, separates…SusyQtiques has it all.

I bought out the book dealer at the shop so look for the large book selection at the turn of the stairs…on your way up to room 7!

The front case at the register is full of lovely antique and vintage costume jewelry. Along with antique lace, books and small unique items. Things I just cannot leave behind when out shopping. You know how that is…don’t you?

We have had a very hot summer and boy am I ready for clothing with texture and warmth as the autumn chills begin.

Went thru my personal closet and pulled my own vintage cardigans to the front of the closet If you are in need of the perfect sweater come by the shop. I have been slowly changing over the “store” closet from summer to fall.

The Black Shutter got a nice painting uplift this summer but the painting kept me out of my storage…long story…so the change over has been a bit slower then I would like. Still, coats are starting to fill up the racks along with neat jackets of Pendleton wool, re-purposed quilts, leather and some really “unique fabrics and designs.”

Recently found a nice collection of shoes…many nos..new old stock! Shoes have to fit, they do not give like clothing but when you find the pair that does fit – WOW!

Also I have purchased several pieces of the late Korean Designer Andre Kim. All from the estate of Brooks Shields. I am hoping to acquire more…but you never know.

With Homecomings this fall, you will find lots of lovely party dresses,short or even long if you go that way. It is always a Halloweeners dream to go thru the racks for that perfect look for that perfect party. I have filled a T rack in room 7 with some ideas and some real vintage costumes. So come try on and have fun!

Octoberfest celebrations are going on and already dirndles have been flying off the racks…still have some authentic pieces for young and old…check out the staircase right before room 7!

Hey guys…room 7 has over 2 full racks of vintage slacks, shirts and suits. Also the perfect hat to top off any outfit. The best selection of men’s vintage in the area!

I have been asked if I have wedding dresses and early vintage..like pre 40′s! I do but I do not put it out on racks because…they are all very delicate. SO if you are looking for something “older” or a one of a kind wedding dress…let me know and we can set up an appointment.

For 2 months the Black Shutter has been getting some fresh paint. Things have been a bit out of sinc with windows out and things moved around…but we are promised to have shutters back up and all painting done by this weekend

So have you been by in a while? If so you have seen the large assortment of hats. All colors, brim sizes and that special decade you love so much…..all represented in room 8. Heads full and a large hanging basket.

Dresses fill 2 racks and every week items are added. I am starting to slowly change out the “closet”. For now jackets and sweaters can be added to summer frocks to make them last into fall. Coats are coming this month…

Lots of lingerie from the 20s to the 70s. Vintage Ethnic pieces with hand work to die for…so yummy.

Maxi dresses keep popping up as the “latest” style…we all know they have been around for a looooong time. To get dressup or casual maxis stop by…they are all in room 7. It is not to early to think about the Holidays…there are some beautiful gowns on that rack too.

HATS! HATS! HATS!..boy do you need a nice sun bonnet with this heat. I have been going hat crazy. That is to your benefit….so many hats. Straw..big brim, medium brim, small brim…with flowers with out flowers, fabric…custom made and designer….yep we got hats!!!

You are receiving this a little early because I am heading west! There is a birthday party I must attend for a certain little grandbaby…MINE!
